Mini Portraits

Since starting up painting again, I've been doing a lot of these mini portraits (they are about the size of a coaster irl), firstly of random made up girls, then recently I've been trying to see if I can get a likeness to real people, painting a few of my favourite bloggers. Decided to try out my new tights - think I am a bit in love with them! They are subtle but still a bit different. Anyway, I shall stop waffling on about tights now :P The rest of the outfit, I decided to try out the candy pastel trend, not that I haven't worn similar things before. Candy pastels are right up my street, so with my candy pink hair & new mint blouse from ASOS, I think I made the look mine?

Thanks for all your comments on my last post - I'm so glad you like my paintings & don't just think they are crappy, haha! A few of you have asked about commissions/me selling them. I'm not entirely sure yet, but I think if I did, I would start with those mini circle portraits (see my Tumblr for more sneak peeks-tried practising yesterday with some of my fav bloggers!). What do you think?

Crafting & Painting

I've been feeling really creative recently, so I've got back into painting, which I hadn't done in so long (I think since early 2010!!!!). These are illustrations I've done over the past week. I really need to buy some new paper/sketchbook, I'm just using whatever I can find at the minute. It's nice to do something after so long, I don't really know why I stopped, but it's been a nice relaxing way to spend my evenings.

I also went a bit mad at the weekend & spent a small fortune on craft supplies (mainly for my shop, but some bits for me!), & got a hot fix tool & gems. I've studded a pair of my tights, after being inspired by Bebaroque tights, which are stunning, but waaayy out of my price league (& size, for that matter!). The crystals cost me about £10, so it wasn't extraordinarily cheap (must remember to search eBay for cheaper crystals next time!!), especially when you add in the cost of the tights, but they are really pretty, & I think worth it!

I bejewelled them whilst wearing them to get the placement right, but the tools does say not to touch & I can confirm that you really don't want it touching your skin! The crystals stay hot for ages after too, so I did burn myself a few times, before I went & put on thick over the knee socks under the tights to protect my poor legs! I don't really recommend that you do it that way, haha!

I also made the tulle skirt I talked about in this post, another cheapie DIY! I accidentally made it a bit on the small side though, so I can't get it over my hips, only dragged down across my head! Oops!

Whilst I was painting, I thought I may as well decorate the boxes for Dolly Darling that just arrived with pretty pink hearts. Cute, non?

Anyway, hope I haven't bored you too much, but I do like to mix up my blog & not just have it be about fashion, after all the clothes that I wear/buy aren't all that I am, hehe! :P

Wearing my new knitted headband from Beau xoxo, whilst trying not to smile awkwardly & failing miserably! :P Georgie, the owner of Beau xoxo kindly sent it over for me to try out. Her shops stocks lots of cute hair accessories, including these knitted bow headbands, glitter bows, knitted turbans & garlands. I'm not wearing it in the usual way, it doesn't look right on me just pulled over my head, I don't think I suit them that way, but I like it worn like a normal stretchy headband. Makes a change from my velvet New Look one, & keeps my ears much warmer :P

Ring - DIYed // Bracelet - Dolly Darling

If you read my sister's blog, you might have seen this dress before, on her! We live apart now & we keep choosing to buy the same things! Last week we met up & both had the same bag, luckily it hasn't happened with us wearing exactly the same dress yet, that might be awkward! Our mum used to occasionally dress us the same (there's a 2 year age gap!), but wearing the same things now might look a little ridiculous:P

Although whilst in Wales last time, in Bets y coed, I did see 2 fabulous old ladies (think they were sisters, possibly twins but not identical), wearing matching outfits, from top to bottom. I thought they looked awesome, but I don't think anyone else thought so! They were definitely very chic, with long pleated skirts & cream cable knit cardigans. They even had a miniature poodle, which was so cute, but unfortunately not one each :P. I desperately wanted to ask them for a pic, but was too shy! Maybe we should dress up the same, might be fun :P What do you say Charlotte?

Have any of you shopped with JD Williams before? They are under the same group as Simply Be, which both send out catalogues so you can browse at home & either place your order by post, or online.

I have shopped with Simply Be & Simply Yours before, and although JD Williams is focused more at an older age range, I often find that you can get some nice pastel knitwear in "old" shops. I always have such a problem finding pastels aimed at my age group! They often have pretty detailing like pointelle knit too, which again can be difficult to find in trendier plus size shops. Just a tip for those of you that are plus size lolitas/just like pastels! Although I even managed to find this ^ cute bright pink spotty cardigan whilst browsing the site before, along with some more girly pastelly ones.

Spent ages sewing on these pretty appliques & beads to my cardigan, worth it though I think? Wearing my new, recently shortened, pleated lavender skirt, was a bit long before, but a steal on Ebay for £8! :P

Also tried out a top knot/bun for the first time, I like experimenting with my hair. Makes a change from just leaving it down all the time!

Random Bits & Pieces

My Cosmo Award arrived the other day (the first time it got sent out it was smashed, so has taken awhile to arrive), so thought I'd take a few pics to show off it's new home. Now proudly positioned next to some photos of my babies! Really love the illustration (by Ros Shiers), & willing to overlook the fact that my blog name is still wrong, because I still can't believe I actually won! Thank you so much you guys<3

In other news, I have been trying to curtail my excessive shopping habit, & have been failing miserabley! I now have a vintage lavender pleated skirt (oh so gorgeously granny chic!), plus a "nude" angora blend beaded cardigan, patent dolly shoes, & 5 metres of pastel pink tulle on the way to me. I have been sticking to only buying what I truly love thing though, I'm not just buying for the sake of it. I think :P

Anyway, I can't wait to make a pink tutu skirt with the tulle, (ala Ouma-wish I could afford one of those!), I've been desperate for one for a while now, so thought I'd make my own. So instead of £180, I've spent about £30 on materials, which is much better for my wallet. It's the time that goes into sewing that really costs the money though, & the skill, it certainly isn't all that easy to make something vaguely wearable. Luckily I have both the time & (I hope) the skill! :P

This year I really want to stop buying so much, I've made a pledge to only buy what I truly love, & try to save at least as much as I spend. This is going to be hard, haha! I really want to save up for a better camera & lens though, & they certainly don't come cheap :(

Wearing lots of new things today - pink dress I just had to get after it came back into stock, after the cream one I have fit so well! New bag too, from Temporary Secretary. I won it on their Twitter competition, I was so thrilled! Thank you so much Sarah ♥ ! The bird ring I swapped with my sister for one of mine, I think the bird is so cute!

I am also in love with my new shoes - decided I just had to have them, I love the wedge, & because they are flat, I can actually manage the height! My mum saw them & loved them too - she ordered the denim version! They take a little bit of getting used to walking in though, because the sole doesnt really bend, but they are still 10x more comfy than heels/wedges!

Hope you all had a lovely New Year's Eve, I myself retired to bed early(I know I'm so boring :P), & promptly got woken up at 12 with lots of fireworks. Should have just stayed up, hehe! Happy New Year to you all though!

My Handmade Gifts

I know I already showed you the girl doll, but thought I'd show you the boy doll together with her. I only finished the boy at the last minute, I kept putting it off for ages! I was realy pleased with how they both turned out, & my little cousins seemed to like them (even if they did both want the girl doll, eek!).

Here's what I made for almost everyone else, jam! It was much easier than I thought, I actually got inspiration from Kirstie Allsop (I love her craft shows!!), and once I had seen how simple it was, I decided to give it a try. I'd imagined jam making to be messy & having to spend hours slaving over the stove, but excluding prep time, it only took around 30 mins! Everyone seemed to like it, & I tried our pot this morning, it was yummy!

I did make a few other gifts, including personalised silver heart necklaces for my Mum & my sister, but somehow I forgot to take pics! I was going to take a quick photo of my Mum's to show you all, but she literally hasn't taken it off since she got it, so will have to upload a picture later!

Christmas Gifts

I always love seeing what other people got for Christmas, so thought I do a quick post with a few of my favourite gifts I got this year:-

Birdcage charm from Mum that I've put on my "fun" charm bracelet (I have another proper silver charm bracelet, that was my Mum's, but this one is for all the cute & fun charms I find/get given!).

I got more things too, I was totally spoiled this year! I hope my family & friends enjoy their gifts as much as I love mine. We are meeting up with the rest of the family today, so after that I can show you what I made for everyone!

Hope you all got what you wanted & are still having a lovely time (& aren't back at work/school yet!!).

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a lovely day yesterday, I did! We spent the day at my Grandparent's house, had a lovely roast, got lots of presents & just generally had a good time! I've still got another day coming up with the rest of the family, (we always have a 2nd Christmas Day thing, because not everyone can make it on Christmas day), so Christmas isn't really over yet, for us. Anyway, hope you enjoy these pics, I wore my handmade velvet dress, which I think is lovely & old fashioned. Teamed with my patent red shoes & white tights, I felt like a dolly!

Sunday Baking

I made some cake today, a Victoria Sponge. I had some homemade jam to use up, and although I would have preferred to make something more festive, what better way to use up jam than with a basic sponge? Perfectly simple but delicious, recipe below:-

Gather ingredients - you will need 225g of sugar, butter & self raising flour, as well as 4 eggs. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C.

Cream together butter & sugar with electric whisk, until pale & fluffy. Beat eggs in a separate bowl. Add a bit of flour and a bit of egg in stages, folding lightly in with the creamed mixture. Don't just chuck it all the eggs and flour in at once, this will separate the mixture, and you want to retain as much air as possible from the whisking!

Once folded, pour/spoon mixture into baking tray(s), and bake for 30 mins! Leave to half cool on cooling racks, then add a thick layer of jam, cut & serve whilst still warm! Yummy!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

I can't believe it is only 10 days until Christmas. This year has gone by so fast!! I've been making the last of my Christmas presents these past few days. I wish I could share pictures, but I don't want to spoil the surprises for my family (hi if you are reading!). I only have one present left to make, so yay!

I've also ordered some navy velvet to try & make a Christmas day dress. I tried making a velvet dress last year, but the velvet I bought was horrid (so hard buying fabric online, but I don't know anywhere near me that sells clothing fabric!?!), so that idea stalled. Every winter I am always desperate for a velvet dress, there's just something so lovely about them, but there is never anywhere that sells one I like! Of course Topshop sells a million that I love, and last year's TBA dresses were perfect, but for fatties, there is nothing like that. Grrr! Is a long sleeve babydoll style velvet dress so hard to manufacture above a 16??!! Anyway, fingers crossed the velvet will be nice, and also that I can sew it into something at least half resembling something like this.

We are spending the day at my Grandparent's house this year, so looking forward to that. It will be little Dillon's first Christmas, hopefully he will enjoy it. He is a bit of a scaredy cat though, when we got out some presents a week ago he got scared of them, so I hope he doesn't get too scared on the day. Button also finds all the presents & new things stressful. And he hates crackers. Yes we have strange dogs :P

Are you looking forward to the holiday? I must admit, this time of year isn't always so happy for me, but I try & focus on the good things. I also love giving gifts, so hopefully everyone likes what I've made for them!

I originally wanted this dress in pink, but by the time I had funds, it sold out:( I hadn't considered the cream, but after thinking about it, I thought it actually might work out better with my hair being the colour it is :P So I got it (obviously), & I love it! The shape is so lovely, from all angles, & the material is lovely & thick, perfect for winter. I paired it with my petal collar, & it made it even cuter & dolly-like.

Felt a little like a schoolgirl in today outfit, but if my real uniform has been this cute I might have been more enthused about wearing it! Instead I had a baggy navy jumper, yellow(!) skirt, and a ugly stretchy navy skirt. No cute kilt or pretty collars on my uniform :( I was so much happier when I went to college & could finally start wearing something I actually liked!

I think schools should either abolish uniforms, or bring in something nicer to wear, like out of films! Grr! And why do secondarys never have summer dresses for the summer, like primarys? I would have been much happier if I had felt good about what I was wearing. And please none of that blah blah but everyone wears the same blah blah! Can you sense how much I detested my uniform, haha?

Showing off my new Rise dress that Simply Be sent me. I love the design & print. I barely have any floral dresses, if any, it's a nice addition to my wardrobe! Had a hard time pairing a cardigan with it though, I apparently have very few plain cardigans! And no black ones, with long sleeves anyway! I also like the built in semi petti, which makes the skirt flare about more & adds nice detail at the hem.

Negatives - it's a bit short on me, at 5"8. Wish it was a tad longer :( Also, size up, this a a 28, whilst I normally take a 26! Not really sure it's worth £70 either, I would probably pay max £50. But it is nice to see Simply Be stocking new brands, with more trendy designs!

Also took the chance whilst I was out today to use my new bag, it (just about) fit's my 400d in, so it's a perfect size for me! And the scalloping ♥

Random Bits & Bobs

Yep, bought the bag in the end, plus the coral version! So pretty, I obviously needed two! :P

Also got some new glasses, I wanted big geeky frames & I think I succeeded! Haha, I love them, and not bad for £30 each! The tortoiseshell are London Retro, and the purple are by Fabris Lane. I haven't had glasses this big since I was 13!

No real reason for this photo, just thought this arrangement in the spare room was pretty!

Little Dilly had his first haircut the other day, doesn't he look gorgeous?

Simply Be recently sent me this pretty Frock'n'Frill blouse to review (along with 2 Rise dresses that I shall show you soon!). I apparently didn't manage to get the greatest pics, but it is winter now, so going without knitwear of some kind would be silly :P I think in this picture though you can kinda see the pretty details that made me fall in love with it though?

Bows & lace, where can you go wrong? I got it in a 28, as I have had past experience with Frock'n'Frill, my bird print topis by them (as seen in the pic on your left), so knew to go a size up. I probably could have got away with a 26, if it wasn't for my hips/belly, it's a little snug there, but as I plan to wear it tucked in it's not a problem! The colour is pretty & it's well made, so I would give it 8.5/10, a point & and a half being knocked off for sizing discrepancy.

Also managed to wear out my tapestry brogues, seriously these things I find so hard to match up & wear with things!! Think they work with this outfit though, my bag helps ties them in. Any suggestions would be great though, I need help! Plus I decided to wear my hair up, for the first time in like ever! I did milkmaid braids, & actually really like them. I normally hate putting my hair up, my hair is usually something that I hide behind (I have enough of it, haha!), so it was good to try something new & be a bit brave. Even if my neck was a bit chilly. Note to self - next time, experiment in the summer!

NOTD, & Nail Rock Nail Wraps Review

Firstly, my nails of the day. I saw this design on my tumblr dash (source here), & just had to recreate it. Last time I attempted florals it looked like this, so I was pretty pleased with how these turned out, haha!

Also, I wanted to do a review of these Nail Rock nail wraps, that I got in this months Glossybox (no I haven't signed up, but this months box appeared unexpectedly on my doorstop so thought I'd make full use of it, haha :P)

Anyway, upon first sight they look pretty good right? I think I applied them pretty well, I've seen other people struggle far more with nail wraps. They were pretty hard to apply, it took me a good 30 mins to do them, it does require some skill. I mean, they are supposed to be the easy way to have nail art, but they really aren't all that easy! It would have been quicker for me to just paint my nails, plus they wouldn't have look like this then at the tips:

Ugh! I couldn't stand them, they were all bumpy & ridged because nails are curved, not flat, so these wraps wrinkle round the edges. Anyway, I ripped them off, because I knew they'd just start to peel up within hours. I don't think this problem would just be limited to this brand, to be honest. I think most would be the same. Maybe the ones you have to heeat would work better? I don't know, but after wanting to try out some wraps for so long, I'm, glad I didn't actually spend money on these!

Spots & Dew Drops

Yesterday we took the dogs to the park again, their favourite walk ever! Didn't really wear the most warm of outfits, although I did have a coat on too when we weren't snapping outfit pics! Next time I'll remember that it's late November, & I really should be wearing more than a thin 3/4 cardigan & summer dress! Jumpers & scarves for me!

Anyway, it was all misty, had been since the night before, so everywhere was beautiful, with lots of dew dropped cobwebs. I had to keep stopping every so often to take photos of the pretty-ness! Which is why this post is fairly heavy with nature-y goodness :P

Handmade necklace - I recently discovered silver art clay & I am in love! Wish it wasn't so expensive, but it is fine silver, which basically comes in a clay form so you can shape it yourself. Means you don't need a workshop & tools to make proper jewellery, just a bit of skill & a gas hob to fire.

NOTD - Mad Striperz

I recently got sent this Mad Striperz nail art pen from Mad Beauty to try out & review. I picked this mint colour, which is really more of a sky blue than a mint, but lovely all the same.

I've been meaning to get some more nail art pens for ages, but never really knew where to get good ones. I have 2, one in black, one in white, from Model's Own, which do have a dual tip, but after my black one's brush mysteriously disappeared one day!!! (& not having had a reply from Model's Own about it), I've kind of gone off them. These Mad Striperz come in far more colours, are much bigger (8.8ml), & are even slightly cheaper (£5.90!).

I was a bit iffy about trying it out to start with, sometimes with unknown products they can be a bit crap, I thought the polish might be thin & not able to cover the base colour very well. I was mistaken, it was very good & completely solid, but not too thick & hard to manage. I really like having a nail art pen that isn't black/white, so when I next have the spare cash, I think I will invest in some more of the colours they have to offer. Coral Shimmer & Silver Sparkle are on my wishlist!

What do you think? Does anyone else know where to get decent nail art pens from? I've seen the cheapies on eBay, but I'm not sure if they would be very good to use. You do normally get what you pay for!

Crappy shot of my nails, but they are a shimmery colour with konad lace tips!

This is what I wore whilst out with the dogs & my family. New (pink!!!!) coat from ASOS, which I love so much. I bought it as soon as it appeared on site, which may have been a bit rash, but when do you ever see pink coats, esp in plus sizes? Didn't get a good shot of my outfit underneath, plus it was too cold to go without a coat really.

Managed to sneak this pic of Mum, her bf, & the doggies whilst they were being dried off! Button never gets that muddy, he hates dirt, so only Dillon & Tallie were wrapped up in towels - they don't look too happy about it, do they?

Crafty (Christmas) Post - Doll Edition

I know, I know, it's probably still too early to be thinking about Christmas. But this year I wanted to make most of my gifts, so really need to start now!

I used to make everyone's gifts when I was little, I would start in September, & encourage Charlotte, my sister to do the same. We would paint shells for paper weights & other random bits & pieces. They weren't the most beautiful things in the world, as you might image, but we were only small, I think I started doing this at about 7/8 years old.

In more recent years I have fallen into the habit of just buying meaningless presents from shops, rather than actually putting time, effort & love into making gifts like I used to, despite my ability having increased! So this year I have decided to make (nearly) everyone's presents.

I've started with my youngest cousins gifts, a pair of ragdolls - one for both brother & sister! I've only finished the girl ragdoll, but have plans to start on the boy in the next few days. My cousins are aged 3 & 5, so I hope they'll like them!

She took about 5 hours to finish, but I think she was worth it! Do you like her? I probably won't show you more of the gifts I am making until after Christmas now, except for the boy doll, because I know that some of my family read my blog & I wouldn't want to spoil their surprises! I don't think there is much chance of my 3 & 5 year old cousins reading this though, so I can show you these pics without worrying!

I've actually wanted one of these style watches for ages, & now I have one, yay! My Mum is pretty jealous, she loves old fashioned style watches too. I can definitely see me wearing it with a lot of my outfits, I really want to put together an Alice in Wonderland themed outfit with it!

I Heart Shopping

A few recent-ish purchases:

My new dress from Very, available here. When Lauren (Pocket Rocket Fashion), tweeted about some of the lovely new dress in the So Fabulous collection at Very, I immediately rushed over to the site to check it out, & discovered this beauty! Normally I don't even bother checking So Fabulous, because it usually isn't that great, as is usually the way for plus size collections. I normally order from their South range, which just happens to go up to a 24, which often can work for me. This dress is a 28, a size up from my usual, which just shows the inconsistencies with sizing, even in the same shop!!!

It is still very pretty though, even with the neckline being different from the pic. I love the inclusion of this diamante belt, I can rarely find cute belts in my size, for some reason ASOS ones don't fit, even though they should, so I am lacking in the belt department.

My new sewing box! Just because I have 2 sewing boxes already doesn't mean I don't need another, right? :P I found this in Wales, in a little knitting shop. The lady cooed over little Dillon for ages when we checked out, which he loved!

Cute collar I posted about here. It's from Romwe, my first order with them. They are based in China, but offer free worldwide shipping, so I really couldn't say no to this adorable petal collar!

Last but not least, a cat tapestry bag, which I also found in Wales, in a cute gift shop in Betws y Coed. I love anything animal related, so this was another great buy.

I also bought this skirt from ASOS the other day, but it is much too big around the waist, by at least 2 inches! My advice is to size down, maybe even twice, unless you want it to be slung low on your hips. It was also nearky to my ankles, & would have needed a good hem, even on me @ 5"8. I'm definitely returning it, which is a shame. Never really had many sizing issues with ASOS before, so am fairly disappointed. Might buy this dress instead, because even if I got the skirt in a smaller size it would probably still need hemming. And as I have a list of clothes already to alter, I can't be bothered with another, haha!

Glossybox October

I know everyone has been talking about these, at least if you live in the UK, but when the GlossyBox team asked me if I'd like to try out the October GlossyBox, I did say yes. I'm not a beauty blogger, nor do I really have that much idea about cosmetics or skincare products, but I actually think that makes this box all the more useful. I got the chance to try out some new products, whereas normally I stick to my basics & don't branch out. Every month is different, so at £12.95 per box (incl p&p), it is a fairly affordable way to sample products.

This month, there were 2 full sized products, a Stila liner, & Leighton Denny nail polish, making the box well worth investing in, as the nail polish alone retails for £11! There were also some Dermalogia skincare samples, and some tiny vials of perfume. Honestly I would prefer if the box was solely cosmetic based, because I honestly don't care about trying out anti ageing creams etc, or other skin products. Trying out new makeup is much more appealing!

I probably won't start up a subscription myself, because a.) I don't always have money to spare each month, & b.) I don't really care enough about trying out skin care things. If the box was just makeup & nail polish, I would definitely be very very tempted, but as it is at the moment, it's just too risky as to whether I would actually bother with the products. I'm definitely going to get some use out of the nail polish & liner, but the rest is a bit "meh" for me!

The Cosmo Blog Awards

Some of you might remember that I told you about being shortlisted for a Cosmopolitan Blog Award in the "Established Fashion Blog" section a little while back. Well yesterday was the big day, with an awards ceremony where the winners were announced. Unfortunately I couldn't make the event, but I managed to find out all the winners through the live twitter feed (#cosmoblogawards) last night. Imagine my shock, and I mean serious shock, shaky hands, a few tears, etc, when I found out that this little old blog actually managed to win my category! Honestly, it's probably a good thing I wasn't there in person, as I would have probably burst into tears/done something stupid in front of everyone there, haha!

Anyway, I just wanted to thank everyone who voted for me, I honestly never expected this, so thank you so much for your support! I still can't quite believe it.

I couldn't make a decision on which item I liked best, they were all so lovely, so Sophie offered to make me a one of a kind garland in deep pinks & purples. As you can see, the garland she made me is very pretty! I love hair garlands anyway, but this is definitely the most well made of all of the ones I own. The other ones I have are from Primark, or handmade by myself, haha! I love the ribbon tie detail at the back too, so this will fit any size head. It even has little crystal accents dotted on the flowers, which is a lovely finishing touch.

A few outfit photos from today. We took the doggies round to my grandparents house for the day as our house is undergoing a little diy at the moment. Their garden backs out onto some lovely woods & playing fields, so Mum& I took Button, Tallie & Dillon for a walk almost as soon as we got there. I also took the opportunity to snap some outfit photos as we went :)

When Charlotte & I were little, we used to stay around our Grandparent's house all the time. We'd play with all my mum's & her sisters old toys, have have sauteed potatoes & homemade treacle duff(obviously not served together:P) for tea, & a roll of Munchies as we settled down to watch Midsomer Murders in the evening. Aww I feel all nostalgic now, haha! Anyway, I took the chance whilst we were over there to have a look back through one of the old toy cupboards & take a few pics.

Did anyone else play mousie mousie as kids? Or Downfall? Or a weird marble drop game which I can never remember the name of, where the aim was to pull out the floor beneath your opponents marbles, & stay alive yourself! Haha, that's what it's called, Stay Alive! My sister & I spent many hours playing all of these whilst staying over. They also have an upright piano, which Charlotte used to thrash upon, as well as bagatelle & chinese checkers, which always used to be played at Christmas.

I love this pic of my Mum & her sisters. Mum is at the top of the tree, being the eldest like me. We (well I was) were commenting today how neither of us actually look much like we did when we were kids. My face kinda changed from the age of 7, so you wouldn't really recognise me before that. Charlotte on the other hand, looks exactly the same as she did from a very young age. Weird! Do you look like you did as a kid, or have you changed too?

Callooh & Callay Review

Lillian runs one of my favourite blogs (Funny Face's Place), so when I heard she was opening a shop (with her partner Claire), I couldn't wait. It's called Callooh & Callay, & opened whilst I was in Wales, so once I got back, I immediately went to the store to check everything out. Everything was lovely & right up my street, so I placed an order for the Cameo Brooch, wishing I had enough money to get a few more pieces.

After I'd placed my order, the lovely Lillian emailed me & asked me if I'd like to be sent a piece to review as well, so obviously I jumped at the chance! I knew I wanted one of the Balloon Dog necklaces, but had a very hard time deciding what type, let alone colour. Anyway, eventually I managed to decide on the normal Balloon Dog necklace, in Sky Blue. My review is below, so do read on!

Firstly, the packaging is lovely & fits in very well with the circus theme of the shop. The description of the shop reads as such:

"We are Callooh and Callay, purveyors of fine acrylic jewellery. Our designs are influenced by our own obsessions from circuses to heraldy, animals to pop culture."

The shop itself is easy to navigate & has all possible info you could want, such as size, details on materials, & varied product images. There are 3 main collections at the moment, Balloonacy, Punch & Judy, & Jewels for Ghouls Halloween Collection, along with a few other pieces such as my cameo brooch, a Labyrinth(!!!) themed necklace, & more! Callooh & Callay also have their own blog, where you can find up to date info & discounts etc, here.

Both items came in their own individual box, in their own individual paper bag, with Callooh & Callay sticker. Also included was a free lollipop, always a nice touch!

Inside the box, was of course the necklace & also a very cute business card. The necklace itself is made really well, the design is adorable & very unique. I've honestly never seen another balloon dog anything, anywhere! I love it! The colour choice is also really good, there are 10 colour options for this necklace alone. I had a hard time picking, but in the end opted for blue rather than pink, as I thought it would pop against my hair more :P I was a bit worried about the hole for the chain being a bit fragile, but after inspecting it in real life it seems pretty sturdy, as the acrylic is nice & thick.

Together with the cameo brooch I bought.

I am really pleased with both items, they definitely met my expectations & I am definitely going back to shop there again. I hear they are also planning a super awesome Spring collection, so I really cannot wait for that! I know often people are distrustful if a review is 100% positive, but I honestly cannot find any faults. I have & will continue to spend my own money on Lillian & Claire's wonderful creations!

Just a few of my favourite Autumn pieces to hit the shops recently. Of course I own the bird print top, which I think is gorgeous! Outfit post to come soon, I promise! I've just placed an order for the petal collar & the dalmation shoes today, so pics to come! I normally hate animal print, but this dalmation print a la Cruella I actually do love! Of course the rest of the items are on my wishlist, fur trim, velvet & knitwear are all autumn/winter staples for me. I love the fact that pretty peter pan collars are getting much easier to find, I have loved them forever, but they've only really come in over the last year or so. And talk about hard to find in plus sizes. There still aren't that many options out there, which is whyI think detachable collars are probably the way to go, you can add them to virtually anything then.

Holidays & Sunshine Part I

Here are the first of my Wales photos. I actually didn't take very many outfit photos at all, the weather was a bit iffy the first week, & the second week I was kinda worn out & couldn't be bothered, haha! This is an outfit from the first few days though, nice & cosy & snug for autumn!

Of course we took little Dillon up with us, as well as our other 2. Dillon still hasn't had his 2nd injections yet (he's getting them tomorrow), so he was in a fundle most of the time we were out. We let him out in the garden though, which he loved! I wish we had a garden back here for him, Button is a peculiar dog & hates going out on walks, & Tallie doesn't mind not having a garden, even though she enjoys walks, but Dillon really seemed to love being out in it. Maybe once he is allowed down & on walks, he won't care!

Arghh, wish I could live in the country! I wouldn't miss much about living in a town at all, as long as I still had the internet (there's no phone line in my grandparent's cottage, so this is why I don't have net access when I'm away!). I do all of my shopping online anyway, so I wouldn't even miss the shops. Haha! Everyone we've spoken to in North Wales says they do their shopping online too, or they have a whole day dedicated to going into Manchester(!!!) to do a yearly stock up or something :P It is nice not seeing high street after high street of the same chain stores though, there are quite a few boutique-y type stores instead, the only downside is they are pretty pricey.

Ah well, maybe one day!

Hi Guys, I'm finally back! Did you miss me? :P

I had a really nice time in Wales, shall show you some pics & things a bit later on! I got back last night & I am still exhausted after travelling all day yesterday! I used to love long car journeys when I was a kid, now I really am not a fan! I got some exciting news whilst I was away, but was unable to share it with you because of the severely limited net access I had!

Anyway, the news is I made the shortlist in the "Established Fashion Blog" section for the Cosmo Blog Awards! Yay! I never expected this, so it was really lovely to hear! Beautiful New Purchases

My Domino Dollhouse dress♥ It needs some altering before I can wear it, as it is a bit big. The 3x sold out before I could buy it, so I went with the 4x, thinking I could always make it smaller, which is what I shall have to do!

Shooting Star Nail Art Tutorial

You will need:

4 (or more, if you wish) different coloured nail polishes)

Nail art pen (recommended for ease, you could try a tiny paintbrush & a 5th colour if you haven't got a pen) 1. Start by painting your nail in the base colour of choice.

2. Carefully paint a stripe diagonally across the nail in your 2nd colour.

3. Repeat with a 3rd colour, underneath the 2nd colour.

4. Then, very carefully, paint a thinner line inbetween your 4th colour between the first 2 stripes you made.

5. Using your nail art pen, carefully draw a star at the top of your nail.

6. Topcoat, if required, & you're done!

Repeat for all nails & you should should end up with a pretty manicure like this one!

Doggie Photoshoot

A little while ago, I decided I wanted a portrait of all 3 of our dogs, Button, Tallie & the new addition, Dillon! I had naive ideas of how they were all going to sit there nicely & pose, (haha!), but soon realised how difficult it is to get all 3 behaving for a picture!

I got plenty of "outtakes" like these, with them playing around/blurred, but I kinda like them anyway because they show off their personalities (yes dogs do have personalities :P)

They all posed quite nicely individually, but together...no! In the end I got help in the form of my Mum, loaded with treats, although it still wasn't much easier!

But eventually, after 114 frames, I got the shot I was after, & how cute are they? Definitely worth it, I think! I have so many pics of our dogs, but only usually individual ones, they are so hard to get a pic of!

Have you ever tried to do something like this with your pets? Or am I just a dog obsessed weirdo, haha!

How many of you have shopped with Simply Be? They stock a large range of Plus Size Women's Trousers, skirts, dresses, cardigans, etc! I actually shop there quite often, they stock quite a few decent brands, like Frock n Frill, & Joe Browns, all going up to a UK 32.

I have my eye on these 2 dresses at the moment, I particularly love the lacey one. They are both by Frock n Frill, my favourite brand featured on the site. They have recently done a range with Zandra Rhodes too, & whilst not to my taste, it is great to see designer collaborations with plus size brands. I've also heard they are opening their first stores pretty soon, in Bury & Liverpool, shame they're not near me, but I assume if those 2 stores do well then they hopefully with expand & open some near/in London!

Hi again everyone! Thought I'd show you my outfit from yesterday, we went to the park again, & took little Dillon with us, in his Fundle. It was pretty cold & wet, so we didn't go for a really long walk, but our other 2 dogs still enjoyed racing around in the water. Tallie even chased some ducks upstream, which she said was great fun! Weird creature!

I didn't get any pics of my outfit underneath - it was too cold for that! But I wore my Evans Lace Peach Skater Dress, for those of you that care :P

Yes, we got a new doggie! Now we have 3 wonderful dogs. I am so happy - any dog person knows the happiness they bring. And Dillon is so adorable, hehe! Our other 2 looked like him when they were puppies, not quite so small, but just as cute!

Dillon is a Chihuahua x Toy Poodle, so he fits in perfectly with our small furry family! You've seen them before, but we also have Button, a Maltese, & Tallie, a Shih Tzu x Lhasa Apso. They aren't too sure about Dillon atm, but Button was the same with Tallie when we first got her, & now he loves her so much, so it won't be long before they all love each other dearly!

Charlotte also came round to say hello - we got Dillon yesterday, so she stayed over so she could meet him! He is a friendly little thing & not a scaredy cat like Tallie. He went out with them on their walk today, in a bag slung around my Mum's shoulders (because he isn't allowed outside on the ground until he has had all of his injections), & loved it! He was fascinated by the world, hehe!

Now there'll be one more dog photobombing my OOTDs, not that I mind of course:P

I recently got sent this coat from One Stop Plus to review. I picked it out because of the cute ruffles, reminiscent of a Dorothy Perkins one from a few years ago, which I loved, but unfortunately would never have fitted me! I also loved the red colour, I've wanted a red coat for ages, to live out my desire to look a bit like Little Red Riding Hood, haha! I added the fur collar with the black bow over the top for an even more cutesy look - it's not part of the coat!

OneStopPlus stock lots of different brands, from Carmakoma to Taillissime (the La Redoute brand). They even stock the Big Beauty collection!

This coat is by Taillissime, in a size 26 (which it stops at). I often have problems with coats, they seem to be mainly cut for rectangles, with huge armholes. This one is no exception :( As you can see it is a bit tight around my hip/tummy area, there doesn't seem to be much flare from the bust, which would have eliminated this problem. But them I am a very curvy size 26, with a 14 inch difference between my waist & hips!

The bust, surprisingly has plently of room though, which is good! Then we get to the arms, which are a bit big for my liking. I have this problem with almost every coat though, I always feel like the sleeves swamp me. I am not sure if I just have small arms in proportion to my sizes, or if coat sleeves are just supposed to be really loose? Nevertheless, I do prefer a more fitted arm!
I will continue to wear this coat though, because it is cute, & finding cute coats in plus sizes is pretty hard! The price is also pretty reasonable, it's on sale for £39.60, which even though it isn't 100% wool, is a pretty good price! I normally expect to pay around £50 -£100 for a coat, so this one is definitely underbudget!

Verdict - cute design, best suited for rectangular/topheavy body shapes. Quality - 7/10. Price - 9/10

Edit - One thing I forgot to mention before - this coat doesn't have any pockets! Thought it was worth mentioning as nearly all coats have pockets, & it was a bit of a pain, I kept going to put something in the pocket & then remembering it didn't have any! Although I think it would be hard to find somewhere to put the pockets without spoiling the ruffly design, but just thought I'd let you all know!

Delectable Dresses at Domino Dollhouse

In case you didn't know already, Domino Dollhouse launched their Delectable Dresses collection on Saturday. I placed my order for the strawberry dress as soon as I woke up & realised they were for sale! What could be better than dresses that looks like fruit & cupcakes? I was honestly torn between getting the cupcake & the strawberry dress, but the strawberry dress won! I'm glad I went for that one though, as it is now sold out in every size but 1x (I think they are being restocked soon though!). I can't wait to get it, it fits perfectly in with my aesthetic! Just wish I could have afforded them all!

It's officially getting cold again here in the UK, so I've broken out the boots again! So much for summer! I actually don't mind that much, I've been dying to start wearing my autumn/winter gear already! Chunky jumpers, scarves & lace up boots, yes please! I even wore a coat over this outfit too! Us & the rest of the family were celebrating my Grandad's 70th (except he & Granny actually decided to evade it, & escaped up to their cottage in Wales, haha! It was supposed to be a surprise!), & we were sitting outside in the pub garden for a Sunday lunch, therefore chilly! I wish more places let dogs in, it's such a pain in cold weather when they won't! :( Especially when it rains...haha! Which luckily it didn't today - would not have been too happy :P

Oborocharms Review

I recently got sent some things to review from Oborocharms, which sells adorable handmade charms, & custom designed stickers & badges. Kim, the creator, kindly sent me 3 badges, 2 sheets of stickers, 1 necklace, 1 phone charm & 1 ring to review. The badges feature "marshmallow bunnies", & they are just as cute as that sounds. I plan to decorate one of my bags with these!

The stickers are so adorable! They feature Kim's illustrations, which are so cute! They are vinyl die cut stickers, so not cheap paper stickers like the ones you'd normally buy from a stationers. They retail for $3.65, which I think is around £2? Not bad for independently produced vinyl stickers! I can't wait to use these (or perhaps just file them away in my massive sticker collection - I love stickers, probably a bit too much!).

Even with my love for stickers, my favourite part of the package were these jewellery pieces, featuring Kim's handmade clay charms. These are all hand painted, with incredible attention to detail. The charms are tiny, the milk bottle is 1.4cm high, which just makes the detail even more unbelievable! The chain on the milk bottle necklace is a bit short for me, at 18 inches, but that can easily be swapped out for one more suited to my chubby neck, haha! The phone charm features a heart shaped cookie, which is even smaller than the milk bottle, & is just as detailed. I'm a sucker for kawaii faces on (usually :P) inanimate objects, so these are right up my street!

The little octopus ring Kim sent is adjustable, so can be opened up to accommodate any size finger. All of the charms & jewellery in the shop are very reasonably priced, I don't think one thing is over $10! I'm definitely going back to buy lots of charms when I have some money - I want all of them! Shipping is also extremely reasonable, a mere $2 no matter how much you buy, & this includes international shipping too!

So a thumbs up for Oborocharms - I love indie shops, this one is no exception!

One of my recent outfits. I decided to mix it up a bit instead of wearing my usual pastel shades. I went for a gothier look, whilst adding lots of feminine touches like the huge bow, pearly peter pan collar, puff sleeves & lace detailing! I need to start adding more outfits like this to my wardrobe, because I love them just as much as my pastel pop ones! :P I also think my pink hair goes brilliantly with black, much better than my old brown hair.

Took the dogs to the park again today, they love going there so much! It has water, which they think is the best thing ever, although muddy dog + white tights = :( Silly me! Decided to wear a dress I haven't worn since Christmas, even though I love it, it's got lots of shiny bits on it, so I always think it's a bit OTT. But then I realised I am a bit OTT, so just wear it anyway!
Didn't get a good pic of my nails though, I have them painted like Scrabble tiles, after I got inspiration from Tumblr. They spell out my name too (It doesn't score very highly though :P)! So shall get better pics of those later to show you:)

My New Hair

Hi guys! Notice anything different about me? :P I am officially in love with my hair colour, I've wanted hair like this for ages, but never was brave enough until now. It was actually my Mum who really inspired me. She'd been saying how much she loved my hair & was proud of me for standing out whilst I was at college, when I had short spiky different colour hair every week! So I thought, why not, I want it, I should just go for it. And even though I didn't explicitly say in my last post I was going to, many of you assumed I would (I think you know me better than I think, haha!). So yay! It's not perfect, it's a bit patchy & I did miss a few roots (luckily they are hidden underneath), but I have still never been so happy with my hair.

Thought I'd show what I've done to my latest ASOS dress, which can be seen in it's original form here. I'd been lusting over a Topshop dress that had a layer of lace for the waistband, but obviously Topshop clothes are never going to fit me, so I decided to make my own version. I really love the fact you can see my skin through it, which I'm sure many people would have a fit at, seeing as I'm omgz deathfat! Finding lace that would work though, was a pain in the butt! Topshop's verson had daisies on a net background, but finding anything similar was impossible, so when I finally saw this vintage lace on eBay, I had to bid on it! Not quite the same, but still pretty!

I also saw a deer before we took photos - I think it is a Muntjac (sp?). It was just shuffling along by the fence, so I quickly grabbed my camera & snapped a few pics. I must have scared it though, because it then decided to turn around & go off into the undergrowth.

If you couldn't spot them all, here's a pic without the real sweeties! I have lusted over Emma Gerard's work for a while now, so when she agreed to send me a few bits to review, I was a very happy bunny :) I love having pieces from independent designers, they are usually so different than things you'd get on the high street. These pieces are no exception, each one is handmade from glass(!!). Emma kindly sent me 3 candy bear pendants, 1 candy worm pendant & 1 candy foot pendant from her shop, as well as a candy button brooch for me to giveaway to my readers.

The pieces are really well made, they look almost exactly like the real thing. Being made from glass, they are more fragile than another medium, but as long as you don't go around bashing them on every surface I think they'd be quite hard wearing! I plan to add mine either to a charm bracelet, or a necklace, but I haven't quite decided yet! Overall I absolutely love them, & would definitely not hesitate to order from Emma in the future (I have my eye on her candy bead bracelet, hehe!). You can also find Emma on Facebook, & Twitter.

Went for another walk in the park today with the doggies. As you can see, Button loves to photobomb my pictures, haha! You don't see much of Tallie (not pictured) on a walk, she is too busy racing around like a lunatic!

I wore another new purchase, again from ASOS. I got this after seeing it on my sister, & realising it wouldn't be too short for me. It looks super short on their stock pic, but even on me (I'm 5"8), it's knee length. In fact, I'd probably prefer it an inch or two shorter! Oh well! It was absolutely boiling today where I live, so no cardigan, & barely any accessories, just my River Island sale hat, & my Evans pearl bracelet.

I recently got invited by Sofeminine.co.uk to take part in a blogger's style challenge. The rules were to come up with the best fashion buy(s) for £50 or under. They will be listing their favourite entries here, not sure when though! Anyway, I agreed to take part but asked if I could switch it up a little by buying fabric rather than a manufactured garment, & make my own item. They said yes, (yay!) so when they sent me the money , I immediately put an order in over @ Spoonflower for some of my own custom fabric. £50 bought me 4 metres, including shipping, which was plenty to make my own lolita dress. I think this is the best fashion buy, because no one else in the world has one exactly like it - the beauty of custom fabric & handmade clothes!

Spoonflower aren't exactly in my good books atm though, because I ordered another design a few days before I put my order in for this one & it shipped 2 weeks before this design & it still hasn't come:( They've sent me a replacement package, but by Fedex, who only recently charged me £15, most of tha was their "advancement fee". So that's not good:(

He especially loves going to this park, because it has concrete paths, & he hate getting his feet muddy on dirt paths! I'm not sure he is a real dog, haha!

Swapping

Does anyone else like swapping? I love it, I join a lot of craft swaps on Craftster & swap things with people all over the world. I was recently in a international snack swap, which is even more fun, because you get to try things you normally can't find in your country. Pictured above are some of the treats I got in my package. Yummy! Who doesn't love Lucky Charms after all? I sent out lots of English goodies to my partner, like Dairy Milk & Monster Munch. I love sending (& recieving) surprise packages in the mail. Unless I've ordered something, then post normally=bills, so a swap package every now & then is very exciting.

I've always wanted to try penpal-ing too, but never found anyone else interested in sending letters& little gifts to each other :(

Firstly I wanted to thank everyone for their lovely comments on my post about acceptance, I didn't expect such a lovely response, so thank you dearies♥

Secondly, wanted to share with you my outfit of the day. Decided to go with a limited colour palette, of lovely coral-ly & peachy tones. If you read my blog regularly, you might already have noticed these are my favourite shades. I also only realised today how to change the aperture on my camera, to get the blurry background I always wanted, so yes, I am an idiot, but at least now I know :P Also, do you like my new hat? I don't really suit hats, but had been lusting after a boater since forever, so when this one got reduced in the River Island sale I had to get it. I think it actually looks better than I had expected.

New Shoes & Some Chatter

Do you like my new shoes? (Yes, more new shoes!) I snapped them up in the ASOS sale last week after lusting after them for agees! The straps are a PITA to do up & undo though, but they are so cute! I am a firm believer that nothing can have too many bows, although I should imagine some of you disagree :P

On another note...

A reader asked me today to make a post about how I live with/accept my body just the way it is. I think this is quite an interesting topic of discussion, & not something I have really gone into on this blog, preferring to keep it a lighter mix of shopping wish lists, reviews & outfit posts (I know you all think I'm shallow, haha!). To be honest, I don't really like to be too personal here, I know everybody thinks I am confident, etc just because I wear the colourful clothes I do, but in reality I am very different. Those you you who have met me at blogger events probably already know this, but I actually am extremely shy, & not very confident at all. I'm not even sure that confidence & being able to dress eccentrically even have anything to do with each other, for me at least.

Despite this, accepting my body came fairly easily for me, even though it wasn't something I had ever thought about before. I was just another girl who had been trained that fat=bad, skinny=good. Once I discovered the online community of fat acceptance, I began to realise how hating myself for being fat didn't help me to become more accepted in mainstream society & media, it just made me hate me, which obviously didn't make me any happier. So I decided to just accept myself the way I was, & start being visible & dressing the way I wanted to dress.

Just because I accept myself doesn't mean I am happy with everything about me, far from it. In fact, I probably make no sense at all to anyone, because I still have issues with a lot of things about myself, but I can still post outfit posts & not care about what people say anymore in regards to my weight. In fact, a lot of the links to this blog are through sites that do nothing but comment on my weight & criticise me for it but I tend to just ignore them now. I don't really know how to explain it.

Sometimes I feel dishonest when I blog, because although I no longer mind if people know I am fat, I do mind other things, & photoshop them out, or don't discuss them. Natalie discussed similar things in her post here, & I feel the same way, torn! I look up to Natalie, because she has been so honest about her life & experiences on her blog, & I wish I could do the same. I guess being fat used to be one of the things I hated about myself, & I've managed to overcome that, so maybe one day I will be able to overcome the other issues I have with myself. Accepting my weight just put me on a path 1 step closer to accepting all of me. I'm not there yet.

I know this didn't really answer the original question very well, but I think it shows true self acceptance is difficult to obtain & will probably always be a work in progress, for me at least.

Kuma Crafts Review

I was recently sent 2 necklaces by the lovely Amanda of Kuma Crafts to review. Kuma Crafts is an Etsy store which sells lots & lots of cute jewellery. Noticing my love of cupcakes, Amanda sent me 1 cupcake necklace, & 1 Ice Cream necklace. I love both of them, & as you can see, they look good enough to eat:P As well as cupcakes & ice creams, the shop also sells lots of cute character, diamante, & cameo necklaces, which are all equally amazing!

The packaging is adorable, don't you think?

The laser cut pendants are all designed & hand assembled by Amanda. A lot of her pieces include diamante accents, like the ones she sent me, which I think makes them a bit different than other laser cut pieces. They look incredibly professional, if you look at the pic below, you can see they even have a little Kuma Crafts logo etched into the back of them. Because of the double layers, the plastic is also more sturdy than you might expect, so I can see these lasting a very very long time. I'd definitely rate them a 10/10 for quality.

New shoes & tights! I won 3 pairs of tights recently in We love Colors Curvy Facebook competition. I'm not sure if my entry has been published yet, but I got the tights yesterday, so I am very happy! These are the sky blue colour, I also got peach & lavender ones. So yay!

Shoes are from Littlewoods, from the kids section. I think that kids get the best shoes, I am always buying them if they happen to go up to my size. Most kid shoes do go up to a 6, which I am, so I am lucky enough to get to buy them! I don't think kids clothes have VAT on them either, so they are normally a bit cheaper than adult ones. Not these though, these are on sale for £42, down from £60! Eeek! But they are cute, & I love them!

I wore this outfit out shopping today (yes I know I shop too much!). I didn't actually spend any money, just collected & then spent my Boots reward points, on exciting things like hairspray & nail polish remover! :P I also got bought 2 hair garlands from Primark, yay free things! Thanks Mum :P

NOTD - Fruity Fun

My nails of the day! Thought I would go super out there & paint each nail different - what do you think? My sister also popped round for a few hours, so she got me to do her nails too. We were obviously both feeling fruity! :P

I went out for a pub lunch today to celebrate a family birthday, so my sis & I snapped a few photos of our outfits. Not sure about the length of this dress, it looked okay on, but looks a little long in the pics. May have to get my sewing machine out & hem it a bit. Also really could have done with a belt, would have finished it off nicely :(

Anyway, I had a nice time, so that's all that matters :P

Beelicious Crafts Review & Giveaway!

I recently got sent a lovely package to review from Bee of Beelicious Crafts on Etsy. Beelicious Crafts is an adorable shop, filled with hand crocheted accessories & stuffies. Bee very kindly sent me a cake pouch to review, which I simply adore!

Firstly, the pouch is pink, which is my favourite colour! Secondly, it's shaped like a wedge of cake, which obviously I also love :P The attention to detail is incredible, just look at the lining, and the cute little strawberry on the "icing"!

The lining is a cute complementary patterned cotton, which has been handsewn in ever so carefully. I can barely see the tiny, neat stitches, which is super impressive, especially when I compare it to my own not so neat handsewing abilities:P

The pouch is about 5x4 inches, making it the perfect size to use as a wallet. Normally my problem with coin pouches is that there isn't enough room for my cards, but this pouch has more than enough room if you wanted to use it so. It would also be great as a camera cosy, which I think is what I shall use it for, as my old one is rather past it's best.

All in all, I am really pleased with the pouch, the quality and attention ot detail is lovely, shipping was fast, so I would not hesitate to recommend Beelicious Crafts! Bee even very kindly sent a little package for me to host a giveaway with, so if you fancy entering, keep reading!

New Things

Just a sneak peak at some of the new thing's I've been buying (Yes - I am a shopaholic! :P) . Loving my new spotty dress from Evans, should have an OOTD with it for you soon as planning to wear it this Sunday for a birthday dinner :D What colour cardi would go best do you think?

Cupcake Nail Art Tutorial

You will need:

Nail polish in assorted colours.
Nail art pen /thin paintbrush
Dotting tool of some variety (I use a crochet hook, but things like toothpicks would work.)

Clean, rounded nails work best, & if you use a basecoat, now is the time to apply it.

Firstly, paint your nails in your base colour of choice. This will be your "cup" colour.

Paint 5 stripes vertically up your nails. If you don't have a nail art pen, you can use a thin paintbrush or nail art brush.

Next, paint a thick line across your nails, halfway up. This will be your "cake" colour.

Now blob 3 dots over the stripe you just made, make sure not to cover it completely. Then fill in the space above the blobs with the same colour. This is your "icing" colour.

Now carefully blob a drop of colour at the tip of your nails. This is your "cherry".

Your nails should now look something like this.

Now you can add your "sprinkles". Using a dotting tool or toothpick, carefully dot blobs of nail varnish onto the "icing" area.

You can go for one colour of sprinkles, or rainbow ones like I did.

Nail art finished! Add top coat & let dry.
