Crafting & Painting

I've been feeling really creative recently, so I've got back into painting, which I hadn't done in so long (I think since early 2010!!!!). These are illustrations I've done over the past week. I really need to buy some new paper/sketchbook, I'm just using whatever I can find at the minute. It's nice to do something after so long, I don't really know why I stopped, but it's been a nice relaxing way to spend my evenings.

I also went a bit mad at the weekend & spent a small fortune on craft supplies (mainly for my shop, but some bits for me!), & got a hot fix tool & gems. I've studded a pair of my tights, after being inspired by Bebaroque tights, which are stunning, but waaayy out of my price league (& size, for that matter!). The crystals cost me about £10, so it wasn't extraordinarily cheap (must remember to search eBay for cheaper crystals next time!!), especially when you add in the cost of the tights, but they are really pretty, & I think worth it!

I bejewelled them whilst wearing them to get the placement right, but the tools does say not to touch & I can confirm that you really don't want it touching your skin! The crystals stay hot for ages after too, so I did burn myself a few times, before I went & put on thick over the knee socks under the tights to protect my poor legs! I don't really recommend that you do it that way, haha!

I also made the tulle skirt I talked about in this post, another cheapie DIY! I accidentally made it a bit on the small side though, so I can't get it over my hips, only dragged down across my head! Oops!

Whilst I was painting, I thought I may as well decorate the boxes for Dolly Darling that just arrived with pretty pink hearts. Cute, non?

Anyway, hope I haven't bored you too much, but I do like to mix up my blog & not just have it be about fashion, after all the clothes that I wear/buy aren't all that I am, hehe! :P

    1. Thanks! I'm not sure if I'll be able to make a tut for the skirt - but it was super easy, just sew 4 layers of gathered tulle onto elastic with a zig zag stitch. Then sew the ends of the elastic together. Hope that helps x

  18. You have some awesome talent there! Love your paintings. Also was thinking about buying a hot melt blinger last year, how do the crystals fare on tights, do they show any signs of falling off? Would be interested to know how they wear and wash might invest in one.

    1. Does it matter whether or not she is?

      They'd be beautiful either way.

    2. So... just because she's a larger girl, she's only allowed to draw larger sized girls in her art?

That reasoning is flawed, it's like saying just because someone knows how to cook, they can never eat out. Or just because they know how to sew, they aren't allowed to buy clothing other people have made.

Her art is her art, she can choose her subjects according to her own whims and it makes no sense to imply that she should have to limit her subjects to the exact shape she, herself is.

    3. Is there any reason why I shouldn't? I hate to feel like I have to justify what I draw, but I've only just got back into painting after almost 2 years & have started out with what I draw best. I do intend to experiment more, in fact last night before I even saw this comment I was working on 2 portraits of me & my sister, who aren't skinny.

  31. Hi Georgina!
First of all, I love your illustrations, they look so great! So I really hope you'll do custom drawings, I would love to see what you'd come up with drawing me :D
I think they're really good enough to include them into your shop, as cards for different occasions or just pretty pictures (I'd definitely buy one! My favorite is the one on the right in the top picture, with the hot pink hair ^_^)

  32. Love your artwork. I find it really interesting that the women you draw are small. Why would you not make fat girls? It's hard to find fat images and I think surrounding ourselves with thin woman images can be harmful - or at least not as helpful as beautiful fat images. Why not draw yourself? You're so adorable all the time.
