One of the things that is coming along nicely in my room redux is my picture wall. My grandparents have their stairway wall covered in lots & lots of family photos, & I've always admired it, so I decided to take the concept & put it to use in my own room, with artwork instead of photos. It has a few original pieces by me, a couple of Kris Atomic prints, & other random bits & bobs.
The latest piece to be put on the wall is a canvas, kindly sent for me to review by a company called Bags of Love, which I had printed with a piece (above) I had just finished working on! I am pretty impressed with their service, it was printed that same day I sent over the .png & arrived a day later! They usually print out photos, but my illustrations printed pretty well, with only a minor difference of colour shades (which can be tricky to get right, after all no printer is the same, & when printing out the work myself managed to get 2 different copies just by selecting a different paper!).
They have a lot of different items available on the site too, from bags, chairs, even quilts, alongside the regular offerings like canvases & calenders. I think the prices are pretty good too, I haven't got much experience, but just before Christmas my Mum got a canvas not much bigger than this one printed up at a local store, & I think it was about £75-80? This one came in at £45, excluding the message I got printed on the back, which was a further £1.99. Plus, 2 days wait time, compared to the the week or so my Mum waited for hers. So definitely recommended!
I also played around in Photoshop with the imagery & designed a fabric, which I really want to get printed at Spoonflower when I can afford to, & make myself a pretty dress!
Also, whilst
I'm on the subject of biscuits (kind of!), I thought I'd show you these cute brooches I bought last month. They were only £2.99 each, & are handmade & painted. I couldn't decide which biscuit to buy, so I went for all available! I discovered the brand up in North Wales (you can also see my thimble cats in this pic, by the same pottery), & found the website when I got home. They are made by a pottery based in Devon called Merry Field Pottery, you should check them out if you like quirky, handmade ceramic items! They sell other things, including little cake & biscuit trinket boxes, which I'm sure I'll be back for soon enough!

ReplyDeleteLove the fabric! I love spoonflower, hopefully one day soon I will be able to print with them :)
ReplyDeleteYour image wall is looking great, when I was growing up I never wanted to have pictures art or anything on my walls, but now that I have been living in this basement for such a long while I have been finding myself wanting to hang things on the walls but without the ability because it isn't my home, maybe in the future :)
Your illustrations are so gorgeous! I absolutely adore that fabric print design, too ♥ Have you considered selling your illustrations as prints/printed goods?
ReplyDeleteThank you<3 Not really, I'm sort of an on/off illustrator, rather than one who does it all the time, it's more of a hobby. But hopefully I will at least be selling the fabric design through Spoonflower once I'm done!
