Dolly Mixx Relaunch & an OOTD

I finally wore one of my pastel We Love Colors tights that I bought agggeees ago. I have to say, I still had the same problem with them, they kept slipping down, which was annoying! Oh well! I felt very lolita inspired today, what with the white (actually ivory) tights, pastel shades & flouncy dress.

Hey everyone! Hope you all had a lovely day yesterday, I did! I got some lovely presents, spent some quality time with my family & ate a delicious roast dinner. Yum! I also managed to take some pics of my outfit for you guys:P

My sister Charlotte came over in the morning to exchange gifts & then she took the doggies home with her to babysite them as it would have been too manic at my Aunt's with them. Charlotte didn't want to come, so she had to cook her own dinner for her & Dad, which I dearly would have liked to have seen, lol!

I even managed to persuade her to have her photo taken with me, a rare occurence, hehe!

Anyway, off to spend some time with my family now,

My Evans Competition Entry

So much for the last post being the last before Christmas Day! Anyway, I just wanted to show you my entry for the Evan's Christmas oufit competition, which the lovely Steph of Buttons, Bow & Brogues won today! Well done Steph, your outfit was lovely & you deserved to win! Anyway, it was just a little bit of fun before Christmas, so I just threw this outfit of my favourite Evans clothing together, & snapped a quick pic in the fading sunlight. The skirt, cardi, & shoes are all from Evans, although the Beth Ditto cardigan is the only one still on sale now.

Christmas Eve today! Still can't believe Christmas Day is tomorrow. I've spent today doing my nails & straightening my hair so it won't take so long tomorrow. Also had a nice bath & now I am getting excited at spending the day with my family tomorrow. Yay! Hope you all have a lovely day, whether you celebrate or not.

Last Christmas...

Since I will be showing you this year's Christmas outfit in a few days, I thought I'd revisit the past & show you what I wore last year. Some of you may remember it, as I was already posting on the Fatshionista LJ community at that time. It's funny how my style has developed over just a year, I haven't actually worn this dress since!

Anyway, I hope you all have a lovely Christmas, as I probably won't be posting until the day after Christmas with this year's outfit. Thank you for reading & for all your comments, I really appreciate it:)

Snow OOTD

What I wore to walk around in the snow taking photos. Wellingtons don't really go, but they are very practical for the snow! The coat is one I got last year, in the Next sale, for a mere £15 reduced from £50! I am eagerly anticipating this year's sale, Next always have unbelievably good sales, everything is half price or even less. They don't offer a huge plus size range, but some of their current stock is quite nice, & I have my eye on a few pieces, & am hoping they go on sale & I can get them for a steal!

I can't believe it's less than 5 days till Christmas now. This year has gone by ridiculously quickly! I am looking forward to Christmas day though, will be hopefully at my Aunt's, with most of my family. That's if we don't get trapped by the snow, there is supposed to be more over the next few days - eek! If we don't make it on Christmas day, hopefully we will still make it the Tuesday after Christmas, where we will be meeting up with the whole family at my Grandparent's. We always celebrate twice each year, because it's hard for everyone to get together on the same day, esp when all my cousins have other grandparents who also want to spend Christmas with them. I only have the one set, so we've nearly always spent the day with at least them. One of the present's I ordered hasn't arrived though - I am quite worried now! I ordered 2 dvds for each of my uncles from HMV on the 5th of Dec, & only one has arrived. It was posted from Guernsey, so eeek! Idk why they just didn't ship them together? Everyone else's are basically done & wrapped now!

Snow

We had more snow today, a lot more snow! We went out this morning to get "emergency supplies" for Christmas Dinner, just incase the snow carries on coming & we get stranded at home & can't make it to my Aunt's, where we are planning to spend the day. When we left there was snow on the ground, but not too much, & it had stopped snowing. By the time we left the shops there was several inches on the ground & even the main roads were covered. It took us 2 hours to make a 15 minute journey, along with some shouting, much stress, a few tears & some help pushing the car up a hill. Haha! Once we got home though, I just got into pjs & snuggled up on the sofa, enjoying the warmth!

Mr Socks was also glad to be warm & cosy indoors!

Don't have any outfit shots - couldn't be bothered in this weather. These photos were taken from the comfort of my own home :P I was was wearing a warm coat, a Rupert Bear scarf (cool, I know!), a dress, leggings, wellington boots, a beret & a muffler But you'll have to imagine that!

OOTD

This is what I'm wearing today. Nice & cosy, since it's still freezing, but also cute. This jumper is actually from ASOS main range, this is a size 18, which i'm obviously not, but it's still pretty large on me, when I would normally wear a 26 in knitwear. So definately try out sizes smaller, you never know if they will work or not. The jumper I wore in my last OOTD was an 18 also, & whilst more fitted, it still worked for me.

Also, don't you think my socks are such a good idea? They are normal socks, but with a fur trim. This way I can look like I have fur trim boots, & plain boots, without actually buying 2 pairs of boots. They also keep my ankles very warm, hehe!

Strawberry Nails

Sorry I haven't posted in so long, well, over a week:P Anyway, just wanted to show you a pic of my nails today. I did strawberries ages ago, & posted a photo on this blog. I thought I'd revisit the theme now I actually have green polish for the leaves, last time I used black. Also, I can't believe it is so close to Christmas now! 16 days! Eeek! Luckily I have done all of my Christmas shopping, I ordered most things online which was much easier - my local shopping centre is manic at this time of year. Does anyone else plan their outfit for the day well in advance? I do, but I am a little sad, hehe! Last year a wore a red silky dress & grey boots. I am undecided for this year, I want to wear 2 new things that don't go at all with each other, my lilac Evans jacquard dress, and some patent red maryjanes from Topshop. I am celebrating on 2 separate days though, so I get to see all of my family, so I guess I shall wear the red shoes one time, & the lilac dress another. With other items of course:P

Just wanted to update everyone who reads my blog, I made a mistake when reviewing my We Love Colors tights. I called the pink ones Rubine, but in fact they were Magenta! I am feeling a bit of an idiot now, this is probably why they were more pink than I was expecting :P

More Snow!

It's been snowing around here again, not much, but still pretty! I went out to take photos & frolic, hehe! I also tried heading down the hill to the moor to take some nice countryside photos of the canal etc, but I fell over on the way down, & decided not to risk it. I really need some snow boots or something, I have no shoes practical for snow! I'm wearing some fake knitted uggs in this pic, which I don't really like, but they do keep my feet warm. They don't have any grip though, which is probably why I fell down! None of my other boots have grip either, at least these were warm. I've got my eyes on a pair of Rubber Duck snowjoggers, but they are £80, & since it doesn't exactly snow that much, I should look around for a cheaper pair!

Silly pose, but how lovely is my new scarf? I got it from TkMaxx the other day, it was £20, with an RRP of £40, so that was a good find! It also has really useful pockets for keeping your hands warm, without having to wear gloves. The detail on the buttons is also really sweet.

I woke up today & it was snowing! I love snow, I mean I'm not keen on all the traffic jams it causes & the ice, but snow is just such a fun thing! I turn into a little kid when it snows & I always have to go out in it, even if I had just planned to stay in all day. Admittedly today it hasn't been the heaviest of snowfalls, there's barely a few mm, but still, snow!

Notice my lovely combo of socks & tights. I've been wanting to try that out for a while, but all my ordinary black tights are too opaque to layer with my socks to get the right look. So I ordered these spot ones from Simply Be. I really like the effect & this is the first time I've really worn my Sock Dreams socks. They do go up over my knee, but they don't stay up on my legs, I need some tape/glue/garters. They are the extraordinary thigh highs, & they promise to fit any size of leg. I was dubious, but actually, they do fit me well, & they are not too tight. Obviously they don't come up as high, but they are still over the knee, on my 23-24 inch calves.

The tights though, I do not have such a good review of. This is the first time I've worn them, & they already have a large hole on the upper thigh from just pulling them on. I made sure to be very delicate with them too. So that is disappointing, because I love spotty tights, & these were fairly expensive, I think £16 for 2, 1 black, 1 brown.

Kris Atomic

Yay, my Kris Atomic print arrived! I don't normally buy prints, but I have been following Kris' work for several years now through her blog, & when I saw she had launched her shop, I just had to get one! Kris Atomic is one of my favourite artists, I discovered gouache because of her, hehe. It was rather tricky deciding which one to buy, I was torn between "In Her Room" & "Miu Miu Print". In the end I went for "In Her Room", because the colours match my room more. In an ideal world I would have bought them all! I need to buy a frame for it though, before I can put it on my wall :(

The packaging was lovely, how adorable is the candy striped string & the personalised label? I also got sent this smaller print, free! How nice was that?! I am super happy with my purchase, & I do recommend Kris' work if you are looking for some artwork for your walls. She also has handpainted plates & original artwork in her shop, which I can only dream of one day owning, but if you have the funds, they would definately be worth it!

Cupcakes!

I spent most of yesterday making lots of tiny cupcakes for the relaunch of my online shop, Dolly Mixx. I am selling off all the current stock in mystery swag bags atm, so do head on over to the shop, because they are only £20 each, & the contents are worth much more than that! Sorry for that blatant plug, lol, but they would make good Christmas presents ;) If you want a cupcake though, you will have to wait until the New Year, when I shall be lauching my redesigned shop:)

My desk! It's rather messy atm, covered in cupcakes & bead boxes. I only just tidied it, but it basically always looks a mess.

As well as making items for the shop, I have also been madly decorating boxes with paper clay & beads! I did a huge one, which is not quite finished yet, but it is literally covered in hundreds of cabochons & pearls. These pink boxes are actually empty nail polish remover pad boxes, but they look far cuter as little cake-esque ones!

Whilst I'm rambling on about cute things, how adorable is my new (it's actually 20 years old, lol!) Polly Pocket clock? I had one of these as a kid, a bright pink one & when I spotted a photo of it on Flickr, I just had to buy one off eBay! How could I resist - after all it isn't just a toy, it's functional too:P I now have 3 clocks in my room, a wall clock, this one, & also a Winnie the Pooh one. I'm not sure why I need so many for not a very large space!
