I recently got invited by Sofeminine.co.uk to take part in a blogger's style challenge. The rules were to come up with the best fashion buy(s) for £50 or under. They will be listing their favourite entries here, not sure when though! Anyway, I agreed to take part but asked if I could switch it up a little by buying fabric rather than a manufactured garment, & make my own item. They said yes, (yay!) so when they sent me the money , I immediately put an order in over @ Spoonflower for some of my own custom fabric. £50 bought me 4 metres, including shipping, which was plenty to make my own lolita dress. I think this is the best fashion buy, because no one else in the world has one exactly like it - the beauty of custom fabric & handmade clothes!
Spoonflower aren't exactly in my good books atm though, because I ordered another design a few days before I put my order in for this one & it shipped 2 weeks before this design & it still hasn't come:( They've sent me a replacement package, but by Fedex, who only recently charged me £15, most of tha was their "advancement fee". So that's not good:(
Deer Ring & Shooting Star Ring - Dolly Mixx // Pearl Heart Ring - Miss Selfridge // Pink Heart Ring - Republic // Marshmallow Bangle - Handmade // Pearl Bracelet - Evans // Sugarbunnies Watch - Ebay
I wore this outfit down to the park, whilst Tallie, as you can see, went rather crazy because of the joy that is water! Button (see a few photos up) is much more dignified & doesn't run around like a look, just paddles delicately. He especially loves going to this park, because it has concrete paths, & he hate getting his feet muddy on dirt paths! I'm not sure he is a real dog, haha!

What an amazing dress! You look lovely and very pretty! :)
ReplyDeleteThat dress is downright lovely--serious envy. Did you design it yourself, or is there a pattern I scan search for on the Internet?
ReplyDeleteOMGGG! those shoes are LOVE!
ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful and the dress you designed is amazing. The print quality is to die for. (May I suggest adding some plain cream chiffon lace or something to the bottom? It seems a little lacking there.)
ReplyDeleteBut I commented on your D_L post. Im happiimilk. ^^ I've bookmarked you so I wont lose your blog again!

Lovely pictures in the parc! What's the weather like today in England? In Holland it rains cats and dogs, it seems like autumn.
ReplyDeleteCurious what you will make out of the fabric, good luck!
You always chose the cutest fabrics for your dresses. I really like it! :D
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree with Katrin, you should start to sell them. ;)

ReplyDeleteKatrin, not sure I ever will :P I don't really have the ability to be happy with selling my creations:(
Sara Bee & Mslizot - I don't use patterns, just make it up/look at other clothes for guidance.
happimilk- I do plan to add some lace, haven't decided quite what type yet, & I'm impatient, so wore it out before I've properly finished it
Your posts make me so happy every time I see them!!! I LOVE all your outfits and this one is a great example ... so happy and cheery and cute and fun! I especially find your handmade clothes so inspiring, it makes me wish I had not dropped out of my construction class back when I was a fashion design major, ever so briefly >_< Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for brightening my day!
ReplyDeleteI really love your blog and your style , you're so original :D

I covet your handmade dresses. They're so freaking adorable, and I would do somersaults to have the skill to make my own! I have only just learned to sew rectangles (tote bags), so I don't think I could manage to make my own dresses yet :(
ReplyDeleteI apologize for my bad english, but you look so wonderful !
ReplyDeleteYour style is just.. awesome ! The picture of the british girl, a little crazy but it works and it's so lovely wearing
I hope that my message is reading in the good sense ! :)
Yet another playfully cute outfit of yours. You look amazing! Your imagination and sense of style are incredible. The shoes are equally cute to match the dress. The dog in the sixth picture is just beautiful.
